HELICOPTER RIDE - PART 1

I scheduled a Helicopter Ride around the Big Island of Hawaii. Scheduling was tricky since I was doing a lot of diving and you cannot fly within 24 hours of diving. The best option was a sunset flight. The weather was perfect. Some clouds for dramatic effect, and lots of sun. Lots of Whales to see from the air, including some breaching. Then it was canyons and waterfalls. Stunning scenery. One of the advantages of traveling alone is that you are often the odd man out. They have to figure out where to put you. I got to sit in the co-pilots seat, in some ways the best seat in the craft.

We were about a third of the way into the trip, when the pilot informed us that we had to turn around and head back to Kona. One of the gauges was not reading what it should. The oil pressure was in the green, but it was lower than it should have been while under load. It was likely not a problem, but the company is very safety conscious. The scheduled us for another tour. Hopefully that one goes smoothly, and we get to actually see Lava.
